Cardano staking FAQ

Cardano staking questions, answered plainly.

General information about stake pools and delegation. It is not financial advice, and no return is promised.

What is a Cardano stake pool?+

A stake pool is a server operation that takes part in producing blocks on the Cardano network. ADA holders delegate their stake to a pool so the pool has more weight when blocks are assigned. Delegating does not move your ADA.

Where can I stake ADA?+

You can delegate from a Cardano wallet that you control, such as Eternl, Lace, Yoroi or Daedalus, and pick any registered stake pool. Some exchanges and custodial services also offer staking, but then they hold the ADA and set their own terms. VoltPool is a pool you delegate to from your own wallet; it is not an exchange and never takes custody.

Can I lose my ADA by staking?+

Delegating on Cardano is non-custodial. Your ADA stays in your wallet, is not locked, and a pool cannot spend it. Rewards are set by the protocol and are not guaranteed, and the market price of ADA can change. The usual risks are around your wallet: keep your recovery phrase offline, install wallets only from their official sites, and never send ADA to anyone who asks you to in order to stake.

Which wallets support Cardano staking?+

Wallets that let you delegate to a stake pool include Eternl, Lace, Yoroi, Daedalus. Each has its own step-by-step guide on this site. Other wallets also support delegation; check that the wallet lets you choose a pool and that you hold the keys.

What do margin and fixed cost mean?+

Each pool takes a fixed cost per epoch and then a percentage margin from the rewards before the rest is shared with delegators. VOLT currently charges 0% margin and 340 ADA fixed cost, with 1,000 ADA operator pledge. Check the live numbers on the pool stats page, since a pool can change its settings.

How do I check that I picked the right pool?+

Search the ticker VOLT in your wallet and compare the full pool ID with the official ID shown on this site. Tickers are not unique on Cardano, so the pool ID is the reliable check.

Can I switch pools later?+

Yes. Redelegation is done from your wallet and does not require moving your ADA.
